Decision makers in European home care establishments are quite optimistic about deployment of ICT-based products and services in the care sector. Especially the Internet, passive alarm systems and on-the-spot data transmission by mobile staff are expected to become common within the next five to ten years. The statement that the internet will become an important means of information about care issues meets nearly undivided expectation of fulfilment. Almost half of the respondents see their clients as members of on-line support groups in coming years.
